Foreign Language Credit by Examination Program
Students in grades 7-12 may earn credit in their native language by demonstrating proficiency on a language exam. To be eligible to take the exam, the student must have experience outside of school with a language other than English. Also, students must not already have two or more credits in that language on their transcript nor be enrolled in an FCPS course in that language. Students who are interested in taking the exam should talk with their counselor or ESOL teacher. The exam is offered once a year. For additional information, CLICK HERE

SAT Tests
Robinson is offering the SAT in October and May. Students may sign up to take the SAT at Robinson or at another location if they wish to take the test on a different date. Most four year colleges require either an SAT or ACT score for admissions. To register to take the SAT or see the dates that it is offered, visit: COLLEGE BOARD

SOL Exam Information
Students pursuing a standard, advanced, or modified diploma are required to pass SOL exams to satisfy graduation requirements. Counselors track SOL requirements and can provide students and parents with a summary of SOL requirements satisfied upon request. Information about SOL testing dates will be updated regularly; however, parents and students can find more information about SOL tests including materials to prepare for SOL exams at:

The College Boards determines the deadlines that all paperwork must be submitted to be considered to test with accommodations. The deadlines can be found by visiting:

2010-2011 Robinson Course Selection Guide
AP, IB and Honors Classes
Robinson Secondary is an IB World School (to find what this means, CLICK HERE).  Robinson also offers some AP courses in certain subject areas.  IB/AP courses are college level courses primarily for 11th and 12th graders.  Robinson’s Honors courses (previously named Pre-IB courses) are primarily for 9th or 10th graders to prepare them for the IB and AP classes in their academic future.  All Honors courses add a .5 to the student’s GPA that is calculated at the end of the academic school year.  To see what Robinson courses are weighted, CLICK HERE.
Robinson Secondary is an open enrollment school.  We believe that all students should strive to take the most challenging curriculum and be academically successful.
