Activities That Are Supported Solely by the Academic Boosters!
Boost Ticket Program Middle school teachers and Special Education teachers are given Boost Tickets that they use to reward students for their efforts in various areas, including effort, citizenship, improvement, etc. Students exchange the tickets for an ice cream from the school cafeteria. Boost sessions run approximately three weeks during the second and fourth quarters.
Academic Awards The Lamp of Knowledge pins are purchased for placement on Academic Letters. Seniors who have earned Academic Letters all four years of high school are awarded special certificates.
Club Support Academic Clubs submit requests for funds to support their organizations’ efforts. Support may be given for needed items, such as a buzzer for the It’s Academic team, or for registration fees for club competitions.
Academic Display Case An effort is made to keep the Academic Display Case updated with student achievement information. Academic competitions and honors, including Merit Scholars, National Honor Society, Junior National Honor Society, Academic Letters, IB Diploma Candidates, and Robinson’s Honor Roll are featured.
Subject Awards Sophomores and Juniors who earn A’s in a core subject for all four quarters and the final are awarded a special certificate at a pizza luncheon in October the following year.
Freshman Honor Roll Breakfasts Freshmen who earn all A’s in their academic subjects are invited each quarter to an Honor Roll breakfast.
Summer Scholars Students can apply for scholarship funds up to $100 to pay for summer enrichment courses. These scholarships are neither need based nor achievement based awards. Rather they are an effort to support academic initiative on the part of interested students.
Jean Genovese Memorial Scholarship Graduating seniors pursuing further education at an accredited two-year or four-year college or at a trade school are eligible to apply for this scholarship, established in memory of this past president of the Academic Booster Club.
Science Fair Award ribbons are purchased for the Science Fair and a reception is held to honor the participants |
