Dear Parents,
Believe it or not another school year is coming to a close! I don’t know where the time goes, but it certainly does seem to fly! May has been a very busy month with SOLs, Teacher Appreciation Week, All “A” Honor Roll and Panther Prowl. Not to be outdone in June, the date for the 8th Grade Celebration is quickly approaching! As one class is leaving to venture out into the world of high school, another class is venturing into the world of middle school.

I would like to extend a HUGE thank you to Robin Fatz and Michelle Ryan for the amazing job they did as Hospitality committee chairs coordinating the Teacher Appreciation luncheon and the reception for the All “A” Honor Roll. In a short two day span, they (along with Red Hot and Blue) provided and served lunch to ALL of the teachers and administration, and then turned around the very next day to host a lovely reception for the all “A” honorees and their families. That is a tremendous undertaking and they made it seem effortless.

I also would be remiss if I didn’t thank the committee chair of the Panther Prowl (who just so happens to be my husband) Len Clark for all of his hard work in coordinating water and orange donations for the participants and the use of a tent. He pounded the pavement, in the midst of a very busy work and travel schedule, to get some very generous donations from Bloom, Giant, and Dick’s Sporting Goods. Ms. Molnar does an amazing job of putting the Panther Prowl together and it was a great success. Everyone had a lot of fun, participants and volunteers alike. Not only did we beat the rain but I am pretty sure we all slept really well that night! I would also like to take this opportunity to recognize the Wellness Committee, Ms. Molnar and Mrs. Bryant, and ALL of the members of the RCMS community who volunteered their time and manual labor to the Garden Project. The garden looks great and we all look forward to experiencing the “fruits and vegetables” of their labor.

We have filled all of the PTA board positions with the exception of 7th grade vice president. If you or anyone you know is interested in bringing his or her thoughts and creativity to this high paying position, please do not hesitate to call me at 703-742-6103, or email me csclark721@verizon.net. We also have many committee chair positions that will be vacant next year, so if that is of interest to you, you know where to find me!

Our last PTA meeting of the school year is Tuesday, June 8, at 7:00 p.m. in the Media Center. Greg Ferentinos from Northwest Federal Credit Union will be our guest speaker. He will be speaking on money matters such as financial planning for college and other programs that NWFCU has to offer. He is very informative and I look forward to having him join us. If you know of any parents of rising 7th graders who may be interested in attending our next PTA meeting, please encourage them to do so…the more the merrier!

I hope everyone has a very enjoyable Memorial Day weekend and I look forward to seeing you at next month’s PTA meeting. As always, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me either by phone or email if you have any comments, questions or concerns.

Best Wishes,
Chris Clark
PTA President
