Technology at Providence

WPES News Program

Providence is very fortunate to have a state of the art News Studio.  We are able to produce morning news show that equals the quality of a high school broadcast.  We are one of two elementary schools in FCPS with this system.  Our sister school, Daniels Run is the other.

 

Our news program is made up of student teams in grades 5 and 6.  Each team consists of 9 members and 4 interns.  Our interns work with the different teams throughout the school year.  Each team works for one month.  Our students take on various roles during their tenure on the team. 

Such duties are: anchor, roving reporter, weatherperson, teleprompter, camera operator, video and sound technician

 

There are 3 adult sponsors that work with the students.  At the beginning of the year, the adults work with the interns to develop slides for the anchors and weatherperson to read as well as backroom slides that the school sees during the broadcast.  By the end of September our student interns are ready to take over!
