(English Speakers of Other Languages):Fairfax County Public Schools has created the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program. In ESOL, classroom teachers, specialists, ESOL teachers, and parents work together to provide ESOL students learn a new language in a new place.ESOL at Poplar Tree
FECEP (Headstart):The Family and Early Childhood Education Program or /Head Start is a free child development program for children birth to age five, including children with disabilities or special needs, from income-eligible families.
Advanced Academic Programs: In order to meet the needs and develop the abilities of highly able learners, FCPS provides advanced learning opportunities through a continuum of GT services.
Read Naturally: Read Naturally is a sequential program that works on reading fluency, rate, pitch, and intonation. At Poplar Tree, Read Naturally is used at 2nd and 3rd grades.
Reading Recovery: Is for first graders who need extra support to be successful in reading and writing.
Responsive Classroom: The Responsive Classroom® is an approach to teaching and learning that fosters safe, challenging, and joyful classrooms and schools, kindergarten through eighth grade.
SACC or School Age Child Care, cares for children before and after school in Fairfax County Elementary Schools.
Special Services: Mission is to ensure academic success of all students and support the health and emotional wellbeing of the school community.
BUSINESS PARTNERS
Costco Tutors:Is a nationwide program. Volunteers go through an intense training program to become a tutor. The program follows a prescribed curriculum and emphasizes phonics skills. We have participated with Costco for the past two years.
Eggspectation: is one of America’s most innovative upscale casual dining restaurant companies. It was founded in 1993 in Montreal, Canada as a breakfast, lunch and brunch strategy. The concept was expanded in 2002 when the first U.S. store was opened.
Dominion Power Educational grants from Dominion help provide elementary and secondary educators with the tools they need to revitalize math and science programs.
