Scholastic presents a reading intervention program to boost the reading skills of older students who read below grade level. It is a research-based teaching tool designed to:
- deliver individualized, adjusted reading instruction to move students to grade level.
- provide practice and application of skills in multiple contexts to increase achievement. The contexts include interactive software (CDs) and motivating literature (audio books as well as paperbacks).
- support and motivate students as they progress toward becoming lifelong readers and learners.

Small Group Instruction
The teacher uses the student workbook and/or worksheets for differentiated instruction to introduce high interest topics to the entire class. |
Read 180 Software
Students work independently on the computers, using the Read180 software to practice individualized skills. |
Modeled and Independent Reading
Students read high interest paperbacks or listen to recorded books to build fluency and comprehension skills. |
|
The wrap-up session gives students a chance to ask questions and/or gives the teacher an opportunity to summarize the day’s activities.
