Enrolls 40 to 50 CPP participants every year.
CPP Participants are seventh and eighth graders.

 
   

What is the CPP Program?

The College Partnership Program (CPP), which began in 1989, nurtures positive attitudes toward academic achievement. The primary goal and emphasis of the program is to increase the number of students, particularly first generation, and minority students who enroll and succeed in college.

Students are exposed to information and opportunities that allow them to create a vision, set goals, and develop strategies that will direct them toward college choices and career goals.

 
     

What is CPP's Purpose?

  • Introduce students to the concept of higher education as a vehicle to achieve success.
  • Prepare students for college and real world experiences as early as possible.
  • Introduce students to a variety of career fields via FCPS career exploration opportunities.
  • Enhance student motivation for higher academic achievement.
  • Provide opportunities for students to visit selected college campuses.
 
     

Criteria for Selection

  • Shows potential for high academic achievement but has not consistently demonstrates it;
  • Demonstrates ability to complete college work but may need motivation to sustain interest;
  • May represent first generation college attendance;
  • Represents a family with income insufficient to support college without financial assistance;
  • Demonstrates interest in and enthusiasm for learning and school;
  • and Demonstrates leadership in school activities.
