Larry Bell Words

Who is Larry Bell and what are the Larry Bell Words you ask?? 

Dr. Larry Bell is an internationally known educational consultant and author.  The LB list consists of 12 words that “trip-up” students on standardized tests, even when they know they answer to the questions.  *93% of students scoring in the bottom 25% of standardized tests miss questions containing these 12 essential words – even if they know the answer.

Beginning February 9, 2009, one word will be introduced on WRVN each week in a graphic organizer format which includes:

• word
• definition
• sentence
• synonym
• picture
• other forms of the word

Teachers will receive an electronic copy of the graphic organizer to display in their room.  All teachers and staff are encouraged to use the weekly word in a variety of ways as it pertains to their subject area. 

We are providing you the same graphic organizer the teachers will receive. We encourage you to use the weekly word with your child.

The more experience the student has with the word, the better he/she will internalize that word.
