Pine Spring is a Positive Behavior Support (PBS) School

Pine Spring uses a school-wide PBS approach to teach students appropriate social behaviors. PBS is a proactive, evidence-based approach that provides positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior in targeted areas. We currently focus on three target areas for improvement: cafeteria, hallways, and bathrooms.

Pine Spring students practice the Bobcat 3 Rs:

• Respect Myself
• Respect Others
• Respect Surroundings

A matrix for students was developed that outlines these expectations and rules in each area. An acknowledgement system using Pride Slips and Bobcat Stickers is used to reinforce appropriate behavior. Each quarter the PBS team, with input from the staff, develops a seasonal theme to motivate and acknowledge students. Classroom behaviors are reinforced by recognizing students during our quarterly goals assemblies.
