Students study all genres of literature; write autobiographical essays, cause/effect paragraphs, and resumes; give oral presentations; experience real-world job interviews; and engage in weekly library research projects.

English 11

Students study world literature; engage in the research process and write a research paper; study media literature and analyze advertisements; write and explore poetry; give oral presentations, senior speeches; and explore the elements of drama

Reading

This class offers students an opportunity to improve their reading comprehension skills through basic vocabulary development, word study, and the use of a wide variety of materials and strategies. Also, the class provides remediation to students; there is an emphasis on the Virginia Literacy Test.
