About Pimmit Hills High SchoolPimmit Hills High School is one of three FCPS adult/alternative high schools. The programs offered in these alternative schools are designed to assist students who might not complete high school in a regular school setting because of age, language proficiency, or other life circumstances. Our students include those needing a flexible or extended schedule, those who have been unsuccessful in their current school, pregnant or parenting teens, older students who have returned to school to earn a high school diploma, and many students who speak other languages (ESOL). In addition, Pimmit Hills High School accepts students who are based at another school and wish to accelerate their educational program. Students are enrolled at Pimmit Hills High School by referral from the Office of Alternative School Programs, the School Board, or by student request if the student is over compulsory age. Pimmit Hills High School’s program offers high school credit courses, required and elective. Our program includes a full range of high school courses, most of which utilize technology as an integral part of instruction. Class offerings are flexible, ranging from early morning to late evening, and are scheduled year round. In addition to credit courses, ESOL literacy programs are offered to help ESOL students gain English skills and complete high school. Pimmit Hills High School provides a learning environment designed to meet the challenges of a diverse student population. School staff assists students in reaching their fullest potential by accommodating different learning styles and understanding prior educational and life experiences. The staff's caring, dedicated, and fair treatment of students ensures the improvement of self-esteem among students and enables them to become more productive members of society. Teachers' high expectations for quality work and full school participation foster resiliency in students. Pimmit Hills High School makes a difference in our students. The faculty, in their role as positive models and mentors, is the single most significant factor that propels our students to academic success and life achievement. | |||||||||||||||||||
