The Value of Your PTA Membership
The Parklawn PTA works on behalf of its members, providing state and national information, influence, and recognition to help unite parents, teachers, and the community for the common good of all children. Together, members can create a healthy, nurturing environment for improving opportunities for all children and youth.
Parklawn PTA Commitment and Parent Involvement
Parent involvement is the cornerstone of every PTA. Involved, caring and committed parents make successful members. Studies of parent involvement overwhelmingly confirm it has a positive effect on children's well-being and academic achievement. But parent involvement and commitment also benefit teachers, schools, communities and parents themselves.
Research on parent involvement finds that parents who are actively involved in their children's education also become more involved in community activities than they had before. Involved parents develop more positive attitudes towards school and teachers, help gather support for the schools, and bring additional resources to benefit the schools. Involved parents also develop increased self-confidence and a more positive self-image. Parent involvement is key to strengthening commitment to your PTA, your school, and your community.
