Wire Sculptures
Fourth graders have been studying how to draw the human figure in proportion and where the body bends. They used wire to create a sculpture of a person with correct proportions and performing an action. Can you guess what action each figure is performing?
Virginia Landscape Paintings
Fourth graders painted landscapes representing Virginia’s varied geographical panorama. They learned how to create depth in their paintings by varying size, using overlapping, and playing with more or less detail.
Clay Coil Pots
Fourth graders used earthenware clay to create these beautiful coil pots. After the pots were fired once, the students painted designs inspired by Native American symbols on them with underglazes. Then their designs were covered with a clear overglaze.Afterwards the pots were fired in the kiln a second time to become shiny and colorful.
