We are dedicated to developing lifelong learners. We believe the best way to do that is to ensure that each child is competent, confident, and successful in basic academic and social skills. Our skilled, dedicated teachers welcome children into the classes where differences as well as similarities are accepted. Responsibility and respect for each individual are emphasized.

We teach all children to successfully meet the aggressive expectations of the Fairfax Program of Studies. Individual developmental and learning needs are accommodated, and we celebrate the variety of ways in which learning can be expressed. Strong art, music, and physical education experiences are conscientiously connected to basic academic skills. Through our school plan, we especially concentrate on development of research skills.

The mission of Olde Creek Elementary School is to provide an intellectually stimulating, safe, and nurturing environment where students will develop into competent, confident learners and engaged citizens.

Good friends, good students, good citizens!

Olde Creek Elementary is a small neighborhood school serving 370 students in Grades K-6. Our school was built in 1966 and completely renovated in 1997. We include in our school a program for mildly mentally retarded children, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), full day kindergarten, a program for students with emotional disabilities, and Student Aged Child Care (SACC). We welcome all our students into our program in ways which are appropriate to individual development and needs.

Our staff cooperates closely for the benefit of our children. These beliefs guide our staff in working with children:

  • Every child can achieve his or her academic goals by developing strong basic skills and positive social and citizenship qualities.
  • Critical and creative thinking, good research skills, ability to work with others, and ability to use technology effectively are crucial to success in the 21st Century.
  • Aesthetic expression reinforces and extends academic skills.
  • A variety of assessment tools are needed to produce a valid and reliable measurement of students' learning.

At Olde Creek, we are proud of our active PTA. We are developing ways for our parents and community members to be involved in every aspect of our educational program. Success for each student depends on a true partnership between the school and the community.
