Summer AP Assignments AP Environmental Science: There is no written assignment, just pay attention to the news and events related to the environment this summer. Be ready to discuss these when you return in September. AP Japanese: Click here for assignment information AP Chemistry: Click here for assignment information AP Biology: Click here for assignment information The Advanced Placement (AP) program provides rigorous academic college preparatory coursework in the major subject fields. Courses are offered in English, Social Studies, Science, Foreign Languages, Math, Performing Arts and Fine Arts. AP courses are open to highly motivated students, primarily in 11th and 12th grades; a few courses are open to underclassmen as well. The College Board recognizes recognizes a student who takes a minimum of five AP courses and scores at least a 3 on each AP exam with the designation of AP Scholar. AP courses are open to any student who is interested in academic rigor. AP courses are recognized for college credit by many universities in the United States and abroad. The College Board web site has more information about the AP Program. AP Class Expectations provides abstracts of the Advanced Placement courses at Oakton High School. Each course link describes Workload, Expectations of Students, Core Topics, and Evaluation. The information will allow students to make more informed decisions about their course schedules.
