From the Desk of the Senior Class Administrator, Chip Comstock Admin: Chip Comstock Graduation is June 14, 2013, 9:30 AM at George Mason University Patriot Center. Complete graduation details are in the Graduation Edition of the Senior Newsletter. Graduation Tickets: You will not need a ticket to enter the Patriot Center. This is a change from past graduations. All seating is general admission except for seats reserved for the All Night Graduation Fundraiser. It is suggested that your family and guests arrive together to make their seating selection. Arriving early is also recommended. The doors will open for parents at 8:30 AM. All seating is general admission except for seats reserved for the All Night Graduation Fundraiser. Graduation Contract: The Graduation Contract is in the Senior Newsletter. You must read all of the information contained in the Graduation Contract. The Graduation Contract must be returned to Mrs. De Frees in the Gold Office by May 17th. Graduation Rehearsal will be held after the 6th period final exam at 9:15 a.m., Tuesday, June 11. Seniors should report directly to the main gym. Student class leaders, band and chorus members who are performing should report to the main gym lobby. Seniors will receive their cap and gown at graduation rehearsal. Senior Class Picnic: Seniors will be treated to a catered lunch at school, after the graduation rehearsal. The lunch will be held from 11:15 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. If any senior parents would like to volunteer to help with the picnic, please contact Ms. Baumann at 703-319-2700. This is a great time for final yearbook autographs, so each student may bring his/her yearbook. Remember, YOU are responsible for your own yearbook. Club 13: All Night Grad Party: Graduation will be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning, June 14, 2013, at the George Mason Patriot Center. Later that same evening, your graduate will be invited back to Oakton High School for the all-night grad celebration, Club 13. The celebration begins at 10:30 p.m. and will conclude at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15th. See the PTSA All Night Grad page for more details and to purchase a reservation to the event. Senior Surveys: Senior Surveys will be conducted April 19 - 30. Students will be asked what their plans are for next year and to confirm which institutions they applied to and what the admissions’ decisions were. We will also ask them to provide information on scholarships granted. If your child has received any scholarship awards, we will need the name of the awarding organization (college, private organization) and the amount awarded. Please encourage your child to be accurate when completing this survey. We are required to collect this information by the FCPS School Board. It is used to complete our statistical summaries and to help determine which students will be recognized at our Senior Awards Ceremony. Senior Academic Awards Ceremony: – The Senior Academic Awards Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at 7:00 p.m., with a reception at 6:00 p.m. All seniors who have applied to, been awarded, and will accept any scholarships should see Mrs. Rogin-Marks in the Career Center with the information so it can be noted and addressed at the Senior Awards Ceremony The Baccalaureate Ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2013, 7:00 PM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 11900 Lawyers Road, Reston, Virginia. Baccalaureate is sponsored by the OHS PTSA and is a non-denominational ceremony.
