Courses

Basic Technical Drawing No prerequisite
Course Description Lab Fee: $10.00 (8435) Grade 9-12 Credit: One
A basic drafting course designed to introduce the student to drawing fundamentals. Emphasis will be given to drafting equipment, materials, instruments, lettering, applied geometry, computer aided design, orthographic drawing, pictorial drawing, auxiliary drawing, sections and conventions, dimensioning, and metric measure.

Engineering Drawing Prerequisite 8345
Course Description Lab Fee: $15.00 (8436) Grade 10-12 Credit: One
Engineering Drawing provides students the opportunity to experience the graphic language of industry for engineers, manufacturers and technicians. It provides experiences with greater depth in drawing problems, skills and techniques. Emphasis is placed on adherence to established standards for technical graphics. An important aspect of the course is the application of graphics principles to typical engineering drawing and design problems.

Architectural Drawing Prerequisite 8345
Course Description Lab Fee: $15.00 (8436) Grade 10-12 Credit: One
This course is designed to assist the student in developing basic knowledge and skill in the field of architectural drawing. The student will learn various construction methods, plan a house, and develop working sketches, drawings, and a scale model. This is an exploratory experience for the careers in architecture.

Advanced Drawing Prerequisite 8346/8437
Course Description Lab Fee: $15.00 (8438) Grade 11-12 Credit: One
An advanced drafting course designed to allow the student, with the guidance of the instructor, to set up an individual year long study into technical drawing area(s) more extensive and different from work possible in the lower level drawing courses.

Introduction to Engineering No prerequisite
Course Description Lab Fee: $15.00 (8403) Grade 11-12 Credit: One
Design and Technology is designed as a foundation high school course in industrial technology. Students use core technology knowledge to solve open-ended problems and create systems. Laboratory activities engage students in the design process through projects that integrate math, science, and other core subjects. Working in groups, students build and control systems in the development of technology.

Research and Developmental Engineering Prerequisite 8403/8435
Course Description Lab Fee: $15.00 (8491) Grade 11-12 Credit: One
This course emphasizes the applications and the design process of engineering. Students form engineering teams and select a group design project. Each team uses communications, graphics, mathematics, and community personnel to solve problems. Appropriate information is learned by each team in order to complete a project. Projects may be models, systems, or products that creatively solve an engineering problem.
