I hope everyone had an enjoyable spring break! We have had many changes at Oakton in the last few weeks. The much discussed West County Boundary changes are finally behind us, and, as upsetting as the results are too many in our community, at least the future is clear after many months of speculation.
We also have had some administrative changes. Pam McMillie, our Assistant Principal in charge of Curriculum and Staff Development, English, and Social Studies, has moved to the Hearing Office at Gatehouse Administrative Center. Ms. McMillie will be missed, and everyone here wishes her the best in her new position.
Dr. Robin Mentzer will be joining us as an Assistant Principal until the end of the year. Dr. Mentzer has been a Director of Student Services at Stone Middle School and an Assistant Principal at Hunter Woods Elementary School. She will take over many of Ms. McMillie's previous assignments and can be located in the Burgundy Office.
Also, I want to welcome our new Director of Student Activities, Pete Duperrouzel. Mr. Duperrouzel has been with Oakton in administrative and counseling roles for the past four years. He has extensive teaching experience in special education and was a coach for many years. In fact, Mr. Duperrouzel was the offensive coordinator of back-to-back state championship football teams in New York as well as a head coach for a state finalist girl's lacrosse team. Our administrative team and all our coaches are looking forward to working with Mr. Duperrouzel in his new position.
