Volunteers

If you are interested in volunteering in the health room there are several training sessions that will be offered in the fall. This health room orientation is in addition to the general school volunteer orientation. A Fairfax County Health Department Public Health Nurse will provide training that will make sure you are comfortable assisting students in the health room and maintaining medical protocols and record keeping.
Please contact the school health team for session dates and locations.

In addition we need several volunteers to help out during health screening. This is a one time commitment that involves about two to four hours. We provide “on-the-job” training on how to do the vision screening. The screening is done at the end of October for all kindergarten students, third grade students, and all students new to the county. Any time you could give would be appreciated. Please call the school health aide, Vicki Franks at 703-467-3510 for more information if you are interested in volunteering.
