We are pleased to announce the opening of Oakie’s BB&T! Oak Hill Elementary has partnered with BB&T to create an in-school bank. The main purpose of this program is to encourage students to save for their future. It can provide hands-on experience for students to learn about finance and banking. Teachers can use this experience to teach concepts in math and economics.
Oak Hill students can open a savings account with Oakie’s BB&T with a free $5 deposit! $5.00 will be put in their new account immediately upon account opening. They will also receive a free BB&T string pack. No minimum deposit is required to open this savings account.
Oakie’s BB&T will be managed and run by our incoming 2008-2009 6th grade students. BB&T will train our bank employees and support them throughout the process. Oak Hill’s PTA will assist in monitoring the program. The school bank will open twice a month to accept deposits to their savings accounts. All other transaction types (i.e. withdrawals, account balance information, transfers, etc.) can be done at any regular BB&T branch.
To open an Oakie’s BB&T savings account for your child, please
complete the account
application form and take it to a BB&T branch for processing.
As a minor, the student’s new account must be a joint savings
account with a parent/guardian. Also attached is a list of valid identification
that the parent/guardian must present upon opening the account. The
BB&T branch at Franklin Farms Shopping Center has set aside 3 special
dates to accommodate the opening of new Oakie’s BB&T savings
accounts:
Monday, May 5th from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Saturday, May 10th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
If you are unable to make the dates listed above, you can go to any BB&T branch anytime. You must present the completed “Oakie’s BB&T Account Application” form to get the free $5 deposit and BB&T string pack.
For more information, please contact our PTA coordinator for this program, Angie Fontanilla, at acfontani@yahoo.com. I look forward to having your child participate in our school bank program.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Amy Goodloe, Principal
