After his first three fantastic years teaching third grade, Mr. Simonds is now one of the social studies and language arts teachers on the sixth grade team.  Before coming to Navy Elementary School in 2006, Mr. Simonds spent a career in the U.S. Navy as a helicopter pilot.  During his Navy career he and his family had the opportunity to live in both the United Kingdom and Japan.  He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from UCLA and masters degrees in Education from Old Dominion University and in National Security from the Naval War College.  Mr. Simonds and his wife, Kate, have two adult children and three grandchildren.  He enjoys visiting family (and playing with grandkids) along with gardening, carpentry and working on his old Ford Mustang.
