Group Descriptions

What We Do

Classroom Guidance: We go into each classroom every two weeks to do a guidance lesson. These lessons will last approximately 30 minutes. The lessons focus on Bullying Prevention, Character Education, Conflict Resolution and Career Education.

Group Counseling: We work with students in small groups when teachers or parents have recommended it. The groups we have are Social Skills, Changing Families, and Study Skills.  The groups meet for 6-8 weeks and usually include 6-8 students.

Individual Counseling: When students are having a problem at school they may request to see a counselor. We use a problem solving approach to talk to the child and return them to the classroom as soon as possible. Sometimes we may meet with small groups of students to solve social issues.

Melissa Bookoff is at Navy full time. She works with Kindergarten, 1st grade ( Mathis, Adams, Duffett), 2nd grade, and 3rd grade.
