Principal Katie Hand and Assistant Principal Mark Bibbee

Mrs. Hand began her career in teaching during the Fall of 1971 in Pensacola, Florida.  Having taught in five states, (Rhode Island, Florida, Texas, California and Virginia) due to moves with a military husband, she settled in Virginia and has been with FCPS since 1979.  She taught all elementary grades and received a Masters in Reading from the University of North Florida in 1986.  After 23 years in the classroom, she decided to enter Public School Administration at the University of Virginia and became the Assistant Principal at Lane Elementary in 1999.  She was there for 3 years before becoming the Principal at Navy in November of 2002.

Mrs. Hand’s loves spending time in Virginia Beach with her family and spoiling her six grandchildren.  She also enjoys gardening, tennis and working with the students, staff and families at Navy Elementary School.
