Selected to Attend Boys and Girls State!
Students from Mount Vernon High School have been selected to attend Boys and Girls State. Selection is highly competitive; the students who attend represent the top talent from across the state. Selection is merit-based and includes consideration of grades and leadership potential. Congratulations to MVHS Students M. Bailey, S. Busch, M. Hood, G. Jarvis, and J. Leonard. Way to go Majors!

MVHS Community Clean-Up!
MVHS Community Clean-Up - Mount Vernon High School students have pride in their school and community. Students picked up trash from the neighborhoods around MVHS. 16 bags of garbage were collected. Those students were: Bridget Awantoh, Joseph Hood, and David Sopko. The project's coordinator has had more volunteers sign-up and plans to have another clean-up during the early part of April. Mount Vernon High School Honors America's Veterans!
On Monday, November 12, Veterans Day, Mount Vernon High School welcomed veterans to a celebration honoring their service to our nation. Colonels Robert Wallace and Walter DeHoust spoke about the importance of Veterans Day in our lives and in our nation’s history. The Mount Vernon High School Madrigals sang several songs that commemorated the rich history of our military. Mount Vernon MCJROTC Cadets spoke about the historical significance of Veterans Day. "What the Military Means to Me" poetry contest winner Cadet Solomon read her poem, "It's More Than That" a poem that expresses the thoughts of a child growing up in a military family. All in attendance were treated to lunch prepared by the MVHS Culinary Arts students.
