The Mount Vernon High School MCJROTC has been designated a Naval Honor School by the 4th Marine Corps District. There are 41 schools that have MCJROTC programs in this district and only eight of those schools were honored with this distinction. As a result of receiving this honor, MVHS will be allowed to nominate three cadets for the United States Naval Academy. The three students will have to meet the selection criterion and are not guaranteed an appointment. However, these cadets, graduating from a school named as a Naval Honor School, will not need a congressional nomination.
