Renzo's Rock'n Jerzees, Mount Vernon High School's 2006/2007 Virtual Enterprise, captured first place in the regional Business Plan Defense competition in Newport News, Virginia. Seventeen virtual companies registered for the competition, held November 16 at Thomas Nelson Community College.

Renzo's Rock'n Jerzees has been invited to defend its business plan for the state championship. The winner of that competition will be invited to New York for the national competition.

Students engaged in the Business Management/Virtual Enterprise class determine the nature of the business, its products and/or services, and its management structure. Some of the activities in which the students engage are marketing and research, advertising, buying and selling products and services, paying wages and taxes, managing personal finances, and negotiating loans with a central bank. One of the major course requirements is for the companies to create business plans and defend them before panels of business experts.
