There are many summer opportunities available to our students:  special programs on college campuses, in labs, in foreign countries; community service; leadership, etc.  The opportunities highlighted here may be of special interest to McLean High School students.

AIU High School Diplomats Program brings Japanese and American high school students together at Princeton University for a 10-day cross-cultural and educational exchange program.  Open to current sophomores and juniors; no cost; Japanese language experience is not a prerequisite; July 30-Aug. 9.  For more information: www.highschooldiplomats.com

 

The 2008 Science and Engineering Education Program (SEAP)

Deadline - Jan. 28, 2008

  • Eight week summer research opportunities at a participating ONR laboratory
  • Stipend - $1,500 for the eight week program, $1,550 for returning students
  • Apply online at www.asee.org/SEAP

Eligibility Requirements:

v  U.S. citizenship required for most laboratories

  • High school student who has completed at least grade 9. A graduating Senior is eligible to apply
  • Must be 16 years of age for most Laboratories

 

 Participating Laboratories are located in Arizona, California, Florida, Maryland, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, and Washington, DC. Specific locations and links to research interests are available at www.asee.org/SEAP .

The application deadline is January 28, 2008 at 5:30 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST). Deadline for references is February 4, 2008 at 5:30 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST).
