Recognitions and Awards
2011-2012
The Marshall Academy Entrepreneurship Program would like to congratulate Brendan Karp and Kevin Zell who won 2nd place (and $500!) at the Fourth Annual George Washington University Pitch George competition held Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011 for their Seedling Startups business concept.
Grant Leibow and Andrew White took 4th place for their Scent Slayer business concept and Claire and Brendan Fogarty took 5th place for the Kids App business concept.
Semi-finalists also included Basheer Al-Kakhan, Eisha Jain, Nick Nelson and Omar Yousef. For the competition students submitted a 200 word executive summary about a business they would like start. On Saturday, students gave a 3 minute memorized elevator pitch to seven entrepreneur judges at Duques Hall at George Washington University. Finalists gave their pitch an additional time in the actual building elevator.
This is the second year Marshall Academy Entrepreneurship students have been recognized at this event. Please help me congratulate all of our student competitors as they proudly represented our Statesmen community.

Way to go Statesmen!
The Marching Statesmen finished their award winning field show competition season with an overall Superior Rating at the VBODA Marching Assessment held at Powhatan HS on Saturday, October 29. The Superior rating earned was the culmination of all their hard work, congratulations to the entire marching band and color guard! Also to the Drum Majors: Lauren Merlino, Nick Kemp, Drumline Captains: Molly Walsh, Malavika Sahmi and Nick Rilte, Guard Captains: Laura Zoellner and Patty Garvey and Field Captain, Ben Looker.
