Mrs. Cerutti is the guidance counselor for the Marshall Academy. She provides counseling services to students in the Academy, coordinates scheduling with base school counselors, and assists students with college and career exploration activities. She is responsible for promoting the program and recruiting students. Mrs. Cerutti has a B.S. in Psychology from Rhode Island College and a M.E.D. in Student Personnel Services from Virginia Tech. She is a National Board Certified Counselor (NBCC) and holds Virginia licenses as a professional counselor (LPC) and a marriage and family therapist (LMFT). Outside of work hours, she enjoys kayaking the bay, rivers, and local streams with her husband. She relaxes in the evening while knitting and crocheting projects for family and friends. Mrs. Cerutti also volunteers at Virginia Hospital Center in the Patient Companion to the Dying program. |

Mr. Conway attended Bishop O'Connell High School, The University Notre Dame, and James Madison University. He has a M.Ed. in Counselor Education and has been with GCM for more than 12 years. Mr. Conway has been counseling for more than 22 years and been involved with other youth work. His professional commitments include: Virginia Counselors Association, Virginia School Counselors Association, and the Northern Virginia Counselors Association. His interests include: tennis, golf, and hiking. |

Mr. Rixse is joining the Marshall counseling staff this year. He was a counselor last year at Edison High School in Alexandria and previously taught chemistry and math for 11 years at Yorktown High School in Arlington. Also, Mr. Rixse worked for 6 years as a litigation attorney at a large DC-based law firm. Mr. Rixse received his B.A. in chemistry from Princeton University, his law degree from the University of Virginia, and his counseling degree from George Mason University. He is a native of Northern Virginia. In his spare time, Mr. Rixse umpires high school and youth league baseball and officiates high school volleyball. |

Mrs. Tanya Shuford began her college career at James Madison University, received her B.A. in Psychology from Hampton University, and her Master's degree in Education from University of Maryland. She has been counseling in Fairfax County schools for more than 5 years. To her the best thing about being a guidance counselor is helping to prepare students for life beyond graduation from high school. At Marshall she co-sponsors the College Partnership Program and the African-American Culture Club. In her spare time, Mrs. Shuford enjoys spending time with her family, reading good novels, listening to music and working with her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. |

Although a Midwesterner at heart, Mr. Stansbery is a product of Virginia schools having graduated across town from Oakton High School, before earning his bachelor's degree from William and Mary, and then his master's degree in counseling from Old Dominion. He began his work as a high school counselor in 1995 and has been working at Marshall since 2002. When not in the counseling office you can find him spending time with his family, coaching Marshall's freshman football team or getting a in work out in his home gym. Having been at two other Fairfax County schools, he has really enjoyed his time as a Statesman! |

Ms. Stuart comes to us most recently from coastal North Carolina where she was a high school counselor. Ms. Stuart is a graduate of Robinson High School, Virginia Tech (GO HOKIES!) where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree and The University of West Alabama where she completed her Master’s Degree. Before becoming a high school counselor, Ms. Stuart was a teacher for seven years, in Fairfax County and in several schools around the nation. Ms. Stuart chose to become a high school counselor because she enjoys helping students to realize their full potential. Outside of school Ms. Stuart loves to spend time with her two dogs- Maggie and Molly; teaches yoga; and enjoys reading and spending time with friends and family. |
