Classroom Technology
Mantua is part of the Fairfax County Model Technology School program. Each general education classroom has four or five Macintosh or PC student computers and one teacher station. At the initiation of the program teachers received training classes taught by county personnel. Teachers take technology classes offered by the county to stay current and classes are held on an as needed basis at Mantua. In every classroom there is a presentation system which allows the teacher to teach whole group lessons and demonstrations using the classroom television. Each classroom is equipped with a VCR. Classrooms are also equipped with a laser disc player to be used with our Windows on Science series.
Virginia State Technology Standards of Learning Computer/Technology skills are essential components of every student's education. In order to maximize opportunities for students to acquire necessary skills for academic success, the teaching of these skills is the shared responsibility of teachers at all grade levels and in all disciplines.
