Community

Organizations

There are two organizations that engage activity in community work.

Mantua PTA - Mantua Parent Teachers Association

Mantua.org - Mantua Citizens Associations

The Mantua PTA asks, "What's the difference between a good school and a GREAT School?" Answer: Parental Involvement.

The PTA helps coordinate a full and diverse set of volunteer opportunities for the parent community. These opportunities run the gamut from running a sporting event at field day, to stuffing "Tuesday Folders", to helping in the clinic or library. All parents are asked to indicate their interests at the beginning of the school year, and they are then contacted as specific needs for volunteers arise. The opportunities to volunteer are varied, and can fit flexibly within the constraints of parents' schedules.

Building Use

Mantua Elementary School is used for a number of community and PTA activities throughout the year. These activities include: Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Brownies, Hands on Science, Sign Language Class, FLEX Program (Foreign Language), Talent Show, Spring Carnival, Mantua Civic Association Meetings, PTA Meetings, Voting, Pinewood Derby, Band & Strings Concerts, Chorus Programs, Odyssey of the Mind, Yearbook Club, Drama Club, Mentor Meetings, Ballroom Dancing, Basketball, and the Raccoon Run.

To use a room at Mantua for a community activity, obtain a Building Use Form from the office. Along with a $10.00 application fee, the completed application is sent to the principal and the Community Use office for approval. The application process takes approximately two weeks.
