Purpose
To recognize and encourage excellence in Spanish language study. To promote Spanish language activities and knowledge of Hispanic culture in Madison community.
Requirements for Membership
Participation in the Society Induction Ceremony: Every society member will be responsible for participating in some way in the ceremony to induct new members. This could include serving on a committee, such as the decorations committee, the set up / clean up committee, or lending his / her services in some other capacity.
FAILURE TO COMPLETE ANY OF THE ABOVE OBLIGATIONS DURING THE STUDENT'S TENURE IN THE SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY WILL RESULT IN THE MEMBER BEING DENYED THE PRIVILEDGE OF WEARING AN HONOR CORD AT GRADUATION.
Application Procedures
- Students must be enrolled in Level 3 (eligible at the end of 1st Quarter of work in Level 3), Level 4, or the AP Language course.
- Students must have a 3.5/B+ cumulative average in Spanish.
- Students must maintain 3.5/B+ average in future Spanish studies.
- Advanced Placement courses are weighted 0.5 quality points.
- Students must have completed at least two semesters of language study at James Madison High School.
- Students need not be enrolled in Spanish to maintain membership. (But must be enrolled in a Spanish class to vote and run for office.)
- Students must participate in the Induction Ceremony
