Our department helps the student artist develop personal vision and technical abilities through experimentation with a variety of media. Problem solving, critical thinking and experimentation with processes respective to the medium build the foundation for aesthetic thinking. We strive to impress upon the students the idea of being responsible for themselves and the work they produce.

 

Our program weaves together these focus areas within our theme based curriculum:  

▪ CREATE: development of ideas, aesthetics, skills, techniques, forms, genres, exhibition

 

▪ CRITICISM: description, analysis, interpretation, judgment

 

▪ HISTORY: film, photography, digital imaging, animation, video art, documentary

 

▪ CAREER: field trips, curate, guest artists, college planning, collaboration, portfolio

 

▪ TECHNOLOGY: multi-media, photography, film, video, sound
