MISSION
Great Expectations for Learning!

VISION
The vision of James Madison High School is to:

  • Create a collaborative teaching culture.
  • Recognize and value every member of the school community and celebrate their accomplishments.
  • Provide a challenging and appropriate curriculum that engages
all students in active learning experiences.
  • Actively monitor and support every
    student’s performance.
  • Implement strategies for improving student achievement.
  • Infuse technology throughout the curriculum.

QUESTIONS A PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITY MUST ANSWER

  1. Essential Knowledge
What is it we want every student to know?
  2. Assessment
How do we know if he/she has learned it?
  3. Time & Support
How do we respond when a student is not learning?
  4. Prior Knowledge
What do we do if they already know it?

Failure is not an option!

VALUES
We are committed to . . .
  • Great Expectations
High standards that allow all students to achieve and improve.
  • Excitement
Learning as a process that inspires awe and wonder.
  • Engaging
Developing students who are engaged to the fullest in the collective school culture
  • Respect
Creating an environment that values respect and inclusion for all.
  • Model
    Modeling our shared values.
  • Fun
Creating an energized, dynamic, positive student-centered environment.

These pillars provide the foundation for our professional learning community. The primary focus is on student learning by closely monitoring student achievement. Continued school improvement is based on a collaborative analysis—administration, faculty and staff—of data measuring student progress.
