In most situations you only need to PLAY a course. You may download a course when you prefer to work offline or do not have high speed internet access in the location you want to use for training. SkillPort's NetDownload™ allows you to download courses for use when you must work offline. If you choose to download courses onto your laptop you must first install the SkillSoft Course Manager (SCM).

Installing the SCM is optional. You can play courses directly over the network (online). Simply click Play this Course on the course summary page. You need to install the SCM only if you want to download courses and work offline.

You must have administrative rights or privileges on your computer to complete the SkillSoft Course Manager (SCM) installation. If you need assistance, contact your Technical Support Specialist (TSSpec) or School-Based Technology Specialist (SBTS).

If you get assistance in downloading the SCM, do not allow that person to also download your courses in their administrative profile. Only download courses while using your profile on your computer. The downloaded courses are attached to the profile of the person downloading the course.

You only have to install the SCM one time, but you will need to download content for each course you wish to take offline. Your course progress is synchronized (uploaded) the next time you log in to SkillPort.

Keep in mind that all offline progress is saved on the computer you are working on. Be sure to log back in to eLearnIT/SkillPort from that same computer to ensure your progress is synchronized before trying to work on the course online from a different computer. Your work will not be tracked properly if the synchronization is not allowed to occur.
