Tiptoid -

When we hear about people not getting jobs or other opportunities because they handled the interview poorly, we thought about how we would present ourselves successfully in similar circumstances. Here are some personal presentation techniques we came up with.

1. Smile when you introduce yourself.

2. Shake the interviewer's hand with a firm but professional grip. Shake twice.

3. Fix your posture. You want to sit up straight to show you are classy, interested and excited about the job opportunity.

4. Keep eye contact with the interviewer, and listen to everything. It shows you want to learn.

5. Answer questions with well-prepared words and phrases. Don't be phony. Don't ramble.

6. Smile frequently.

7. Hold your hands in place, preferably on your lap, for most of the interview. Do not fidget. Gesture moderately when you are talking.

8. Always have a question or two ready to ask.

9. As you leave the interview, thank your interviewer for the opportunity to meet. Extend that firm handshake again. Keep your eye contact with the interviewer, and smile.

10. Relax and call a friend to tell him/her how the interview went.

You will need to practice these steps before the interview to ensure a more comfortable experience. And with these basic techniques firmly in place, we know that, when the time comes, we will have a better chance of getting that important job. So will you!
