Issue - Picking your part in a Production
Tiptoid -
Hannah, Katie, Stephanie, Julia and I sat down to start planning a new show for our school's television program, and we were really excited…but we had NO idea what topic we wanted to explore, and we didn't know what role in the production each of us wanted to take on. We made our decisions by asking ourselves these questions.
What interests me these days?
Do I have any new ideas about my interests?
How is my sense of adventure?
What role(s) have I taken on in recent production projects?
What role(s) do I still need to explore?
We made a list of some typical production roles. Here it is.
1. producer
2. director
3. talent (actors)
4. scriptwriter
5. camera operator
6. location technical crew
7. video editor
8. television studio technical production crew
9. stage manager/television studio director
10. publicity manager
11. costume and makeup artists
12. set designer
Each of us decided to take on a role we hadn't done before. Then we brainstormed for ideas for our show. In no time at all, we were scriptwriting by Instant Messaging, and rehearsals were soon in progress.
We are still excited about our recent production. It is scheduled to be broadcast on LJTV in a few weeks. We'll be making more shows in the future, so keep an eye out for us. We may even become famous!!!
Don't forget these three important points –
You never learn anything until you try new things.
Keep trying lots of things to find out what you are good at. It's probably what you really enjoy!
There is dignity and pride in hard work, especially when you team successfully with others.
