The Internet is often referred to as “The Wild West.” Why? Because the Internet has no defined boundaries and no established standards or rule of law. Anyone can design a website and put whatever they want on it.
Because of this, lots of sites on the Internet are not safe for kids. Also, there are predators everywhere. So here are some basic rules for safely using the Internet that I learned in my Multimedia Productions class.
THIS IS IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
Do not go to adult sites.
Do not send rude messages to anyone. This is called flaming. It is also called cyber bullying.
Do not send viruses and do not hack into any computer.
Never agree to meet with someone you met online without parental permission.
Never give out personal information.
Tell your parents immediately if anything unusual appears on your computer screen during your Internet surfing.
These rules will keep you safer and more aware. Follow them, and tell others to do the same. Remember, this really is important.
