Issue - Techniques to improve your ability to think creatively

Tiptoid -

A while ago I was looking through a pack of cards my Multimedia Productions teacher showed me, called Creative Whack Pack by Roger Von Oech*. I had been stuck for an idea for a new video project, and I found Mr. Von Oech's comments inspirational.

Thinking creatively and becoming more of an idea maker is a huge part of our Multimedia Productions program. Because of the emphasis on creative thinking, my peers and I have noticed how much more engaged we are in our activities. Thinking with a creative perspective has also helped me in my other classes, as well as in my personal life.

Here are some of my favorite quotes from Mr. Von Oech.

~ Get rid of excuses.

~ Lighten up. Only be serious about the important things.

~ Recognize and respond to opportunities.

~ Turn dissatisfaction and irritation into inspiration and opportunity.

~ Have fun with your thoughts. Laughter stimulates thinking.

~ Take a break every now and then.

~ Stick with your ideas. Be persistent.

~ Be humble. Don't let arrogance and ego negatively affect your performance.

After reading though and thinking about the ideas on the Creative Whack Pack cards, I feel I have reformed the way I look at things in my life. These ideas have helped me to think more analytically, and I have come to realize more clearly who I am and what I value. I like having this increased self-knowledge, because I know I am better equipped to apply myself more successfully in upcoming situations.

I suggest you purchase the pack to help you become more inspired and self-aware.
