Issue - Techniques to prevent stage fright in everyday life

Tiptoid -

My friend Erin was going out on her first date with a guy she'd liked forever. She was terrified! She realized she was suffering from a form of “stage fright,” and she needed some quick and effective techniques that would help her relax and build confidence.

I suggested she try these exercises.

•  Breathe slowly through your nose and out through rounded lips. The slower you exhale, the better.

•  Visualize a word that brings you a calming feeling of confidence, such as, “I think I can, I think I can,” “I can DO it,” or “I'm awesome!” As you breathe, visualize these words. Stretch out the words as you slowly exhale. This is very calming.

•  Use easy exercises to release stress on the tense spots in your body - your toes, hands, shoulders, and even your buttocks. Squeeze these nervous areas tightly for 5-10 seconds. Then release. Repeat until you feel your tensions go away.

•  Form a huge, open-mouthed yawn. Then, smile. This will quickly relax your throat and neck muscles, steady your voice, and help you look positive and friendly.

Since our discussion, Erin has practiced, practiced, and practiced these exercises…and the date, let me tell you, was a huge success. Now I'm thinking long flowing white dress - many years from now, that is. Just call me Romantic!
