Tiptoid -

A blog is an online journal where you can put entries about how your day went. You can use it to communicate with friends.

Megan and I wanted to keep an online journal, so that we could keep a record of what was going on in our lives. We heard about www.blogger.com , so we decided to create our own online blog. These are the steps to set up a blog account.

•  Get permission from your parents. Explain everything to them about blogging.

•  Open IE and type in the URL www.blogger.com.

•  If you don't have a Google account, make a new account.

•  Scroll down to the bottom of the screen until you see an orange arrow that says Create Your Blog.

•  Type your e-mail address in the bar.

•  Choose your password and type it in the first box.

•  Retype your password in the second box.

•  Create a display name, one that is appropriate for others to see, and something that you also like. We chose Luther Jackson, because it is our school, and since this is a shared account, we wanted our display name to be easy for both of us to remember.

•  For verification, recopy the word that is displayed above the box.

•  You need a guardian or an adult to review the terms about blogging with you.

•  Check the box when you have read the Terms and Policy. Click continue.

•  Name your blog site, and then decide the address/URL.

•  Click check availability to see if your address is available.

•  Click on the continue button.

•  Choose a display layout that you want your blog to have.

•  Now you can start blogging!

Since we created a URL for our blog, our friends can easily recognize us right away when they visit our blog. Please do remember, however, that people can view your blog site without you knowing it. So be careful with what you write in your blog. Don't add any personal information; such as, credit card numbers, your address, full name, your plans for the day, social security number, and anything that would be helpful to hackers, identity thieves or predators.

After Amanda and I created a blogging account, we kept track of what we did on certain days, and what our viewers' comments were. We also reunited with some of our old friends who had moved away or went to a different school.

With blogging, the world seems much smaller, and the ability to communicate with a lot of different people is awesome!
