My Digital DNA Profile Project (Grade 8)

The 21st Century is known as the Digital Age. As we go about our lives, using technology, we create a unique digital trail. This trail is called a digital footprint. Each of us also has a unique genetic (hereditary) DNA profile. The “My Digital DNA Profile” project highlights the connection between technology and science.

To begin this project, the Grade 8 Advanced Multimedia Productions students identified their unique genetic DNA attributes, and made a list. Next, these active digital technology users were required to determine several defining digital use moments in their lives to date. Then, following considerable thought, they constructed a list of their natural digital attributes (their “NDA”). Lastly, they considered how they specifically have applied these traits, using technology, during their lives. Their profiles now began to take form.

Several students’ Digital DNA Profiles, which incorporate timeline drawings, writings, and podcast performance, are interactively posted here.
