Below is a message from Dr. Frances Ivey regarding honor classes and where you may find additional information: This message is to inform parents of the course selection process for middle school students. Parents will begin to receive information about the course selection process in the coming months. Students will be learning about course options during the school day and parents will be invited to information sessions at the middle school. Parents and students will also learn about honors classes which are designed for students who have demonstrated high achievement, interest, and/or potential in one or more academic areas, and who are committed to rigorous academic work. To learn more about the middle school Honors classes, access the FCPS Honors Page here. Parents are an important component of the decision-making process when it comes to selecting the best classes for their student. It is important for parents to attend information sessions offered at the middle school in order to help their student make course selections based on academic strengths and interests. Parents should discuss course selections with their student to determine which courses will allow them to explore their interests, challenge their minds, and maximize their learning. In addition to attending information sessions, parents are encouraged to have conversations with their student’s teachers and school counselors to help inform their decisions. For specific questions about the course selection process and academic advisement, please contact your student’s school counselor or the Director of Student Services at your student’s middle school. |
