Introduction

Your class is competing for a grant that will allow you to tour Revolutionary War Battle Sites.  You will learn about the battles and the important people who were involved in the battles.  You will also have the opportunity to learn about planning a trip.  Begin with the task below.

Red, White and Blue Line

Task

Your job is to gather information about the Revolutionary War Battle sites in one of three regions of the country (New England, Mid-Atlantic, or South), decide which sites to visit, and create a plan for the trip.  The number of sites you should plan to visit will be determined by your teacher.  You will need to convince the grant committee that your class should be awarded the grant to take the tour.  The plan must include information about the battles and the leaders of those battles in a presentation format (HyperStudio/ ClarisWorks Slide Show/Powerpoint).  A written plan and budget for the trip will also need to be presented (See budget worksheet).

Process

  • Work in groups of 4 or 6.
  • Decide which area of the country to tour.
  • Do preliminary research on the battle fields and choose which you want to visit.
  • Conduct your research on the battlefields.
  • Divide your group.    * 2 - 3 people to create the presentation  * 2 - 3 people to plan the trip
  • Complete your presentation and plan in the time frame assigned by your teacher.
  • Present your plan to the grant committee (your class).
