Introduction Task Process Resources Teacher Page

Introduction

Have you ever received a postcard from a friend who visited some exotic spot? Was it exciting? Did reading about that place make you really want to learn more about it or even go there? Virginia may not seem like a very exotic place, but it is exciting. There are all kinds of interesting, beautiful and - well yes - exotic places in Virginia. Places that need postcards to tell about them.

Task

Your job is to create a post card about a famouse person, an interesting place, or an important document in Virginia's history. Click here for a sample. Be sure to include pictures, a description of the pictures on the postcard, and a message telling important information about the postcard's topic. Don't forget a stamp. Create one using a small picture.

Process

  1. Choose a topic from the topics pages.
  2. Research or review the topic.
  3. Draft a short message for the postcard. You may create your draft on paper or on the computer.
  4. Go to the computer. Use AppleWorks drawing to create your postcard.

Resources

When you have chosen your topic, you can use the resources listed with the topics to find pictures for the postcard. These resources are not intended for research. Some of them have information you can use, but most are for pictures only.
