Virginia Postcards Project

Objective
Review the important people, places and vocabulary for the Virginia SOL test

Time - Since this is a review, students should not have to do extensive research to complete this project. So one class period to prepare and one class period in the computer lab to create the postcard should be sufficient.

Procedure
- Group Lesson

With the class go to PostCards from America web site.

Discuss the purpose of a post card
Go to list of Topics and choose a topic.

On their own.
Since this is a review, students should not have to do extensive research to complete this project.

Research the topic

Write a draft of the postcard message
Written info should include the info from the essential questions
Brief (2 sentences max) description of the pictures.

On the Computer

Open Post Card Template

Go the the VAPostCard Site

Find your topic and go to the web site

Copy and paste the pictures you want to use on to the postcard (including the stamp).
Pick a small picture or resize it.

Paint the postcard background.

Click in the message box and type your message.
If you typed the draft you could save to the shares and then all the kids would need to do is copy and paste the text into the box
