Dear Parents and Students,

Come and explore the wonders of first grade! We will begin our language journey as we enter the world of books and become developing readers and published authors. We will learn high frequency words and strategies to read and write words we do not know. Our math journey starts in the land of number patterns. Along the way, we will visit the clock, place value, measurement, and addition and subtraction strategies. On our scientific journey, we will visit the exciting world of nature. We will investigate plants, weather, seasons, and the water cycle. We will meet some exciting underground friends. We will meet some heroes from the past on our social studies journey. We will compare everyday lives of people in different places and in the past. We will use maps and globes to plot our journey. Economic terms such as consumer, producer, goods, and services will become familiar through role-play. We are looking forward to meeting you and beginning this magnificent journey.
