Welcome to the Liberty Middle School
Student Services Deparment!

The mission of the school counseling program at Liberty Middle School is to provide services that meet the varied needs of students in seventh and eighth grade.  Counselors are responsible for implementing strategies that will enhance the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students.  All students will participate in an age-appropriate, sequential school counseling program that is based on the National Model of School Counseling.  The counseling services will also be aligned with the Virginia Standards of School Counseling, Fairfax County K-12 School Counseling Program standards, and the mission of Liberty Middle School.  Through collaboration with community agencies, faculty, and parents, our students will acquire the knowledge and life skills that are necessary for a successful transition to high school.

Each counselor at Liberty Middle School works with two or three 7th or 8th grade teams.  The counselors serve as a link between teachers and home.  They attend regular team meetings and support students with academic, career, and social-emotional needs.  Students are free to see their counselor during Lunch or Lion Time, or by asking for a pass from a teacher.  The Student Services Department is responsible for assisting students in a variety of ways to include the following:

* Course Selection Planning
* Community Resources/Referrals
* Support Groups
* Conflict Resolution
* Personal and Social concerns
* Counseling
* Bullying Prevention Lessons
* Career Awareness
