Essential Standards of Performance (ESP)

The standards listed in this web site constitute a summary of the most important concepts your child’s teacher will be teaching and your child will be expected to master during the course of this school year. Much of the Fairfax County Public School’s curriculum is sequential and new learning is based on the assumption that earlier concepts have been learned. As your child masters these concepts, he/she will be better able to successfully learn the most important ideas in subsequent grades and/or subjects.  Many other things will be taught during the school year, but Lemon Road’s Essential Standards of Performance (ESP’s) are designed to help you focus on those concepts and ideas which are the most important ones that your child is expected to learn in each grade level particularly in the areas of Language Arts and Math.
