TOUCHING BASES:
Touching Bases will be held on February 15, 2012 at 7:30 am. This will be a 3 hour late start for students. Parents will have an opportunity to briefly discuss their child’s progress with his/her teachers. We hope you will attend!
COLLEGE PARTNERSHIP:
The program is for College Partnership parents and it is a parent Coffee. The date is February 9, 2012 at 6:30 at Hayfield SS. Dr. Frances Ivey, Assistant Superintendent, Cluster V, will provide a PowerPoint presentation and she will discuss “Closing the Achievement Gap.”
ATTENTION PARENTS OF 9TH AND 10TH GRADE STUDENTS:
On February 9, 2012, there will be an informational meeting from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Lancer Hall about the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Lee High School. Please join us for an overview of the Certificate, Diploma, and Career Certificate Programs. This is an opportunity to learn more about the courses offered as well as to discuss your questions with the IB Coordinator, some of our IB teachers, and senior and junior students currently enrolled in IB classes. NATIONAL SIGNING DAY:
Wednesday was National Signing Day. We are thrilled that the talents of five of our young men have earned them the opportunity to continue to ply their athletic skills at the next level. It is wonderful that college will soon be a reality for these young men. We share in their and their families’ joy that they have earned this opportunity. In a brief ceremony on Wednesday in the multi-purpose room, the following students signed letters of intent:

Mr. Quinntez Diggins has committed to Glenville State College in West Virginia.
Mr. Bradley Hann has committed to the Virginia Military Institute.
Mr. Keon Taylor has committed to the University of New Hampshire.
Mr. Dawer Sahi has committed to Christopher Newport University in Virginia.
We admire our student athletes and we wish them all of the best. Please congratulate these students when you see them and wish them continued success beyond Lee.

BAND INFORMATION NIGHT:
The Lee Band 8th Grade Information Night will be held at Key Middle School on Monday, February 6, at 6:00 p.m. in the Key band room. Ms. May, Mr. Baiden, Lee Band parents and students will present an overview of the band program. There will be plenty of time for individual questions as students plan their high school schedules. All 8th graders and their parents are invited to attend.

Why: Honor all Winter Athletic Team Accomplishments
What to Bring: Each athlete is asked to bring an item that serves 8-12 people according to his/her last name. The Activities Office and the Lee Sports Boosters will provide paper products, utensils, napkins, and drinks etc.
Please be sure to label your item/container.
Food set-up will begin at 5:30 and we will start serving at 6:00 PM.

Congratulations to the Lee Gymnastics team as they finished third in the Patriot District Championships Thursday night at Lake Braddock High School. Leah Michetti is the 2012 Patriot District Champion on balance beam, as well as the silver medalist in the “Best All-Around” competition. Katie Stewart also had an outstanding performance finishing as the bronze medal winner in the “Best All-Round” division. We are so proud of all of our gymnasts and wish Leah and Katie the best of luck as they compete in the Northern Region Gymnastics Championship next week. Go Lancers!
